1) Mean climatologies and equations of motion

Composition and definition of the various layers of the neutral atmosphere, zonal mean climatologies.

Static relations, hydrostatic balance, stratification. Primitive equations in spherical coordinates (log-pressure and Boussinesq), geostrophic and thermal wind balance.
